College Football Week 3 Picks: Oregon vs. Nebraska 9/17/16

Oregon vs. Nebraska Pick

Will Oregon and Nebraska fall short of the high point-total on Saturday when they clash at 3:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Cornhuskers are now 3.5-point home favorites versus the Ducks after opening as a 2.5-point favorite. As for the total, the number currently sits at 73 points, which hasn’t moved since oddsmakers posted the total earlier this week.

OREGON: The Ducks blasted Virginia 44-26 as a 24-point home favorite in Week 1 and then beat UC-Davis 53-28 as a 48-point favorite last Saturday. Quarterback Dakota Prukop was 21-of-30 passing for 271 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions in the win, while Heisman hopeful Royce Freeman rushed 11 times for 87 yards and two scores.

NEBRASKA: The Cornhuskers are also coming off back-to-back wins, one against Fresno State 43-10 as a 28.5-point home favorite and then last week in a 52-17 rout over Wyoming as a 25.5-point home favorite. Signal-caller Tommy Armstrong Jr. was 20-of-34 passing for 377 yards and three touchdowns with one pick in the win, while Alonzo Moore (3-109-1) and Jordan Westerkamp (4-105-2) each had 100-yard receiving games.

OUR PICK: Even though the number is posted in the 70s, these two teams should combine for enough points to push the score over the total. The over is 5-1 in the Ducks’ last six games overall and is 4-1 in their last five games coming off a win. On the other side, the over is 8-2 in the Cornhuskers’ last 10 non-conference games and is 4-1 in their last five games versus Pac-12 opponents. After allowing 28 points to UC-Davis last weekend, it’s hard to believe that Oregon’s defense won’t surrender 35-plus to Armstrong Jr. and the Cornhuskers this weekend.
