College Football Week 4 Pick: Nebraska vs. Northwestern 9/24/16

Nebraska vs. Northwestern Pick

Can No. 20 Nebraska continue to shine on the field when it hits the road to face Northwestern on Saturday at 7:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Nebraska is a road favorite in this game, as the Cornhuskers are getting odds of -7 points against the Wildcats. The over/under total for the game is listed at 48 points. Nebraska has won three of the last four against Northwestern, while the Wildcats are 4-1 against the spread in Big Ten meetings. These two have hit the over in two straight encounters.

Bet on Nebraska vs. Northwestern

Nebraska is off to a 3-0 start following a 35-32 win at home over Oregon last weekend. The Cornhuskers are 2-0-1 against the spread with the win and have hit the under in two of three games. Nebraska is putting up 43.3 points and 461.3 yards per game thus far while allowing just 19.7 points and 358.7 yards per game. Tommy Armstrong Jr. has thrown for 685 yards and seven touchdowns while rushing for 149 yards and four scores. Devine Ozigbo has added 242 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Northwestern got its first win of the season last week by beating Duke 24-13. The Wildcats are 1-2 against the spread and have hit the under in all three games this year. Northwestern is putting up just 17.3 points and 334 yards per game on offense while giving up 14.7 points and 394.7 yards per game. Clayton Thorson has thrown for 707 yards and four touchdowns to lead the offense while Justin Jackson has rushed for 260 yards and three touchdowns.

Despite the offensive struggles, Northwestern is still typically a good defensive team that will be looking to grind out this game with long possessions on offense and forcing Armstrong to beat them with his arm. Nebraska has been cruising along on offense, but the Cornhuskers haven’t really faced a physical defense yet. Northwestern should give them some problems with their defense, so don’t look for the Cornhuskers to run away with this game quite so easily.
