TCU vs. SMU Prediction
Will TCU have any trouble when it goes on the road to face SMU on tonight at 8PM ET on ESPN?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, TCU is a big favorite on the road, as the Horned Frogs are getting odds of -20 points against SMU. The over/under total for the game is currently listed at 63.5 points. TCU has won four straight meetings with SMU, but the Mustangs are 5-2 against the spread in the last seven encounters.
TCU is 2-1 on the season but the Horned Frogs are 0-3 against the spread as they have yet to really put on a solid defensive effort this season. The Frogs are giving up an average of 34 points and 406.3 yards per game right now, including nearly 150 rushing yards per game. They have still managed to win thanks to an offense that is putting up 46 points and 571 yards per game, but it isn’t leading to covers. Kenny Hill has led the offense with 1,035 passing yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 166 yards and six touchdowns.
SMU is 2-1 on the season and 3-0 against the spread. The Mustangs are usually known for a lot of offense and a poor defense, but that hasn’t quite been the case this season. The numbers are still there in terms of production (490.7 yards per game), but SMU is averaging just 25 points per game. Defensively, the Mustangs are allowing 25 points and 403.3 yards per game. SMU is powered by a strong ground game with Braeden West rushing for 332 yards in three games. Ben Hicks has struggled a bit at QB, replacing the injured Matt Davis. Hicks has five interceptions on the year while completing only 48 percent of his passes.

TCU really hasn’t show us much this season and now it heads on the road for the first time, when things can get a little hairy. SMU has managed to play well enough to cover in all three games this year, including one at Baylor. With the Mustangs getting 20 points and being able to run the ball effectively, we can see them keeping this game competitive with the Horned Frogs.
