College Football Week 4 Predictions: Toledo vs. Miami 9/20/17

Toledo vs. Miami Prediction

After a few weeks off will No. 14 Miami be able to take care of business at home when it faces Toledo on Saturday at 3:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Miami is favored at home in this game, as the Hurricanes are getting odds of -13.5 points against the Rockets. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 57.5 points. These two teams haven’t met since 1987. Saturday’s game will take place from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida and will air live on the ACC Network.

Miami started its season on Sept. 2 with a 41-13 win over Bethune-Cookman, failing to cover a 50-point spread. The Hurricanes have had their last two games postponed due to Hurricane Irma and that damage it caused. The win over Bethune-Cookman was a typical season opener, as Miami looked rusty in the beginning and came on late. The Canes posted 555 total yards while allowing 350 to the Wildcats. Mark Walton led the offense with 148 rushing yards and two touchdowns while Travis Homer had 108 yards on the ground. Malik Rosier threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns as well.

Toledo is off to a 3-0 start to the year thanks to wins over Elon, Nevada and Tulsa. The Rockets are just 1-2 against the spread in the three wins. Toledo should pose a challenge with its offense, as the Rockets are averaging 46 points and 552.7 yards per game right now. Logan Woodside has thrown for 1,004 yards and eight touchdowns to lead the offense while Terry Swanson and Art Thompkins have combined for 502 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Cody Thompson is the leading receiver with 22 catches for 391 yards and four touchdowns. On defense, Toledo is giving up 29.3 points and 369.7 yards per game. The Rockets have struggled to stop the run, as they are allowing 220 yards per game on the ground.

Bet on Toledo vs. Miami

Miami could be rusty in this game. Two weeks off after a season opener is almost like you are starting your season opener. They are likely to be off early, which will open the door for the Rockets to start fast and make Miami chase them. The Rockets are 14-2 against the spread in their last 16 road games and 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 games in September. I like the Rockets to make this game tough for Miami.
