College Football Week 5 Picks: Miami vs. Georgia Tech 10/1/16

Miami vs. Georgia Tech Pick

Can Georgia Tech find a way to slow down No. 14 Miami when these two meet up on Saturday at Noon ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Miami is favored on the road, as the Hurricanes are getting odds of -7 points against Georgia Tech. The over/under total for the game has been set at 53 points. Miami has won six of the last seven in this series and these two have hit the over in three of their last four meetings.

Bet on Miami vs. Georgia Tech

Miami has been rolling in 2016 under new coach Mark Richt. The Hurricanes are 3-0, covering the spread in all three games while going 2-1 with the over. Miami is averaging an impressive 51 points and 514 yards per game on offense while giving up just 7.7 points and 217.3 yards per game. Miami’s run game has been its strongest asset right now. Mark Walton has run for 401 yards and seven touchdowns to lead the unit while Joseph Yearby has 256 yards and four scores. Brad Kaaya has added 694 passing yards with seven touchdowns.

Tech fell to 3-1 on the season last week in its ACC opener when it lost 26-7 to Clemson at home. The Jackets are now 1-1-1 against the spread in lined games while going 2-0-1 with the under. Tech is putting up 24.3 points and 329.3 yards per game on offense while giving up 14.3 points and 339.3 yards per game on defense. Tech has four players over 100 rushing yards, led by Dedrick Mills with 201 yards and five touchdowns. Justin Thomas has thrown for 364 yards and a score at QB.

Miami has looked unstoppable so far, but that is against some poor competition in Florida A&M, FAU and App State. Tech may not have a great offense, but its defense is still pretty solid. The Yellowjackets should be able to get some stops on the Hurricanes. On the other side, Miami’s defense should be able to handle a Tech offense that hasn’t had much success against lesser competition this year. Expect this game to be low scoring.
