According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Bulldogs are an 8.5-point road favorites to beat the Volunteers, who opened as a touchdown-sized underdog when the opening lines were released. As for the total, the number hit the board at 47 and that’s where it currently sits.

Georgia Betting Trends

The Bulldogs are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall, so they’ve been an excellent play. They’re also a perfect 4-0 at the betting window in their last four road games. Finally, they’re an impressive 8-1 at the betting window in their last nine road games when playing an opponent that owns a winning home record.

Tennessee Betting Trends

The Volunteers are 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games when facing a team with a winning record. They’re 6-1 against the number in their last seven games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game, too. That said, they’re just 7-20-1 against the spread in their last 28 home games versus a team with a winning road record.

OUR PREDICTION: There’s no reason to take Tennessee when you look at this matchup. The Vols have major issues at quarterback, which is a horrible sign for a team getting ready to face one of the fastest, most aggressive defenses in the nation. Plus, Tennessee’s defense struggles to stop the run, again, a problem when facing a two-headed monster in Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. But with nearly 70% of bets on Georgia, this also feels like a trap game despite the fact that Tennessee beat the Bulldogs a year ago on a Hail Mary. But since 2011, this game has been decided by eight points or less in every meeting. Perhaps Georgia comes in overconfident and a little beat down after already beating Notre Dame and Mississippi State. I know it doesn’t make sense statistically, but I like the Vols to keep things close this afternoon.
