Georgia vs. Vanderbilt Prediction

Can Vanderbilt hang with a red-hot Georgia team when the SEC foes clash at 12:00PM ET on Saturday afternoon?

Game Info

Who: Georgia (5-0) at Vanderbilt (3-2)

When: 12:00PM ET, Saturday, October 7

Where: Vanderbilt Stadium, Nashville, TN

Current Point Spread & Over/Under Total

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Commodores are 17.5-point home underdogs versus the Bulldogs, who opened as 15.5-point road favorites. As for the total, the number hit the board at 41 but has been bet down to 40.

Georgia Betting Trends

The Bulldogs are a perfect 5-0 against the spread in their last five road games, are 5-1 against the number in their last six games overall, and are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games versus a team with a winning record. That said, the Dawgs are just 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games played in the month of October.

Vanderbilt Betting Trends

The Commodores are 22-7 against the spread in their last 29 games when failing to cover the spread in their previous contest. That said, they’re just 1-10 at the betting window in their last 11 home games when facing a team with a winning road record. They’re also winless at 0-4 against the spread in their last four games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.

OUR PREDICTION: Georgia is 5-0 for the first time since 2012 and it’s thanks in large part to a fast, aggressive defense, solid quarterback play, and a combination of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel in the backfield. That said, the one thing I like about Vanderbilt is that the Commodores are battle-tested coming into today. This will be the fourth straight week that the Commodores are playing a ranked team. Their defense has slipped a little, but they’re still solid on that side of the ball and quarterback Kyle Shurmur gives them a shot every week. This is a much better, more experienced Georgia team than the one Kirby Smart had a year ago, but the Commodores did stun the Dawgs 17-16 last year. I think Vandy hangs today at home.
