College Football Week 8 Predictions Miami vs. Virginia 10/20/16

Miami vs. Virginia Tech Prediction

Will Virginia Tech cover the number tonight as a home favorite versus Miami at 7:00PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Hokies are now 6-point home favorites versus the Hurricanes after opening as a 4-point favorite earlier in the week. The total, meanwhile, has stayed at 51 after opening at that same number.

Bet Tonight’s Miami vs. Virginia Tech Game

Miami is just 4-1 against the spread in its last five games coming off a loss and 5-2 against the number in its last seven road games. The Hurricanes have also covered in five of their last seven road games when facing a team that owns a winning home record and has cashed in four of their last five games versus the Hokies overall.

Virginia Tech, meanwhile, is 4-1 at the betting window in its last five home games versus an opponent that owns a winning road record, is 5-2 against the spread in its last seven conference games, and is 21-10 ATS in its last 31 games played on Thursday. That said, the Hokies have failed to cover in eight of their last nine games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.

OUR PREDICTION: Miami’s offense has surprisingly struggled, even with plenty of observers expecting Brad Kaaya to take a huge step in his development. The Hurricanes have scored just 32 points in their two losses and I don’t expect Miami to get back on track against a defense that ranked No. 3 in the nation in yards allowed per game before Syracuse racked up 561 yards on the Hokies last week. Miami’s defense will keep the team in the game early, but look for Jerod Evans, who leads the ACC with a 170.7 quarterback rating, to take over the game in the fourth quarter and for VA Tech to pull away.
