Syracuse vs. Miami Prediction
One week after pulling off a shocking upset, will Syracuse at least cover the spread versus Miami today at 3:30PM ET?
ODDSMAKERS LIKE: Miami. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Hurricanes are 17.5-point home favorites to beat the Orange after opening as 14.5-point favorites. As for the total, the number hit the board at 54 but has jumped to 59 at the majority of online sports books.

THE PUBLIC LIKES: Syracuse. Following their upset victory over Clemson last week, public bettors are jumping on the Orange today. Over 60% of public bettors are backing the Orange and taking the 16.5 points at the betting window. Miami also struggled with Georgia Tech last week, beating the Yellow Jackets in the closing seconds while failing to cover as a 6.5-point favorite. Thus, perhaps public bettors are also turned off by the ‘Canes at the moment.
HISTORICAL TRENDS LIKE: Miami. The favorite has covered the spread in six of the last seven meetings between these two teams while the Orange is 1-4 against the spread in their last five games versus the Hurricanes. Miami is also 8-2 against the number in its last 10 games overall, is 6-1 at the betting window in its last seven conference games, and has covered in four of its last five games when playing an opponent with a winning record.
WHO WE LIKE: Syracuse. The Orange are improved, plain and simple. They’re 4-3 on the year and 2-1 in the ACC. They have a nasty pass rush and they’re coming off the win over the Tigers in which they outgained Clemson on the ground 162-113. No team has done what junior quarterback Eric Dungey and the Orange did a week ago in shredding Brent Venables’ defense. Dungey completed 20-of-32 passes for 278 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 61 yards on 21 attempts. Miami has struggled offensively the past two weeks, so I’ll gladly take the points with ‘Cuse.
