The Red Raiders have the conference’s best passing offense but will receive a stiff test from the Sooners’ defense, which is allowing the fewest passing yards per game in the Big 12 this year. Sophomore quarterback Patrick Mahomes II has been terrific for Texas Tech, but Oklahoma has the talent to slow down Kliff Kingsbury’s potent offense.

Speaking of Kingsbury, he refused to grant current OU quarterback Baker Mayfield a release when the signal-caller was a freshman walk-on at Texas Tech in 2013. Mayfield wanted to fulfill a childhood dream to play for the Sooners and since Kingsbury didn’t grant the release, the young QB lost a year of eligibility and had to sit out the entire 2014 season.

Think there’s some motivation for Mayfield to play well today? Take the Sooners, who are 14.5-point home favorites according to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag.
