Colorado State Rams Game Notes
Colorado State redshirt junior QB Patrick O’Brien completed 18-of-26 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-24 victory over Wyoming. O’Brien (6’4/230) had been battling Todd Centeio for playing time, receiving his first starting nod of the season against Wyoming. He played well, completing 69 percent of his passes and playing turnover free football while averaging a solid 9.8 yards per pass. He hooked up with All-MWC tight end Trey McBride on both of his touchdown passes and pounded Dante Wright with 12 targets that resulted in 10 receptions. The two talented receivers accounted for all but 19 of O’Brien’s passing yards in the game as Colorado State took advantage of three Wyoming turnovers to pull off the upset. The Rams travel to play 21st ranked Boise State next Thursday.
Boise State Broncos Game Notes
Boise State redshirt freshman QB Cade Fennegan completed just 15-of-26 passes for 182 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in Friday’s 51-17 loss to BYU. Boise State’s QB numbers from this game are nonsense. Though Fennegan earned the most attempts, he did not even start the game. Jack Sears started the game. At some point, Andy Peters also stepped in to play for Fennegan before he ultimately returned to the field. The redshirt freshman did finish with a fine stat line, but both of his touchdowns were in the fourth quarter of a blowout, so take them with a grain of salt. Boise State play Colorado State next week.
