Watson, Clemson favored vs. SC
Top-ranked Clemson and Heisman contender Deshaun Watson look to complete a unbeaten regular season today when it takes on rival South Carolina at Noon ET.
According to oddsmakers at MyBookie.ag, Clemson is the clear favorite on the road, as the Tigers are getting odds of -17 points against the Gamecocks. The over/under total for the game has been set at 55 points. These two meet up today at Noon ET on ESPN.
Clemson is 11-0 on the year and currently No. 1 in the College Football Playoff polls. They also have one of the top Heisman contenders in Watson, who is currently listed at 3/1 to grab this year’s trophy. Watson leads an offense that is putting up 38 points and 501.4 yards per game. He has thrown for 2,949 yards and 26 touchdowns on the year while also rushing for 642 yards and six scores.
Watson faces a South Carolina defense that is far from what it has been in previous year. The Gamecocks are giving up 26.6 points and 422.1 yards per game this season as they have struggled to a 3-8 overall record. Another big issue for SC is its offense, which is averaging just 21 points and 358 yards per game. The Gamecocks meet up with a Clemson defense that doesn’t get a lot of national attention, but is 12th in points allowed (17.6 ppg) and fifth in yards allowed (278.7 ypg). South Carolina has won and covered in five of the last six meetings, but that may be all the more reason Clemson looks to really send a message to them in a down year.
