Do the experts think Houston and Navy will hit the over? Here’s the pick

Houston vs. Navy Pick

Can No. 6 Houston be slowed down at all? Navy will give it their best shot on Saturday at 3PM ET.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Houston is the clear favorite on the road in this game, as the Cougars are getting odds of -17 points against Navy. The over/under total for both games has been set at 53 points. These two teams met last season with Houston getting a 52-31 home victory while hitting the over of 59 points.

Bet on Houston vs. Navy

Houston has been looking unstoppable so far in 2016. The Cougars are 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in the AAC. The Cougars have hit the under in three of their five games, but that’s not because their offense has let them down. Houston is putting up 44.2 points and 506 yards per game right now. The reason for the unders hitting is the defense, which is holding opponents to just 11.2 points per game and 250 yards per game. Houston has one of the top run defenses in the country, allowing just 42 yards per game on the ground. On offense, Greg Ward Jr. has been outstanding, throwing for 1,325 yards and eight touchdowns while rushing for 178 yards and five scores.

Navy is coming off a 28-14 loss to Air Force on the road, its first loss of the season. The Midshipmen are now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the AAC. Navy is 3-2 with the over this season, but has hit the under in the last two games. Navy relies a lot on its run game, averaging 251.5 yards per contest on the ground. Chris High is the leading rusher with 295 yards and four scores while QB Will Worth has run for 173 yards and five touchdowns while throwing for 527 yards and a score. Defensively, Navy is giving up just 20.5 points and 377.3 yards per game, but it’s facing an uphill challenge against Houston.

The total is pretty tame for a Houston team that is averaging 44 points per game. However, Navy should be able to make some stops on the Cougars, especially at home. The Midshipmen have a pretty solid defensive team that will be ready to contain Ward. However, I think Navy will have a very hard time moving the ball against Houston. The Cougars are the top-rushing defense in the country and will likely force Navy into a lot of passing situations, which won’t lead to much good. I could see Navy being shutout in this game and don’t see Houston scoring 53. Pick the under here.
