Duke vs. Virginia Tech Predictions Against the Spread 10/28/17

Duke vs. Virginia Tech Prediction

Is Virginia Tech laying too many points to Duke tonight in ACC play? Kickoff is set for 7:20PM ET.

ODDSMAKERS LIKE: Virginia Tech. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Hokies are 17-point home favorites to beat the Blue Devils, who opened as 15.5-point underdogs. As for the total, the number hit the board at 49 but was bet down a full two points to 47 at the majority of sports books.

THE PUBLIC LIKES: Virginia Tech. As of this writing, 65% of public bettors are laying the points with the Hokies. Virginia Tech enters play with a 6-1 record overall and is 4-3 against the spread, while Duke is 4-4 overall and 4-3-1 at the betting window.

HISTORICAL TRENDS LIKE: The underdog and the under. In the last four meetings between these two teams, the underdog is a perfect 4-0 against the spread. And in the last seven meetings, the under has cashed in five of those seven games.

WHO WE LIKE: Duke. This feels like too many points. The Blue Devils have only lost once by more than a touchdown this year and have played competitively under David Cutcliffe. Speaking of the Duke head coach, Cutcliffe is 20-9 as an underdog since 2013. Virginia Tech has Miami coming up, so this is a look-ahead spot for the Hokies. The last four games between these two teams have been decided by a field goal or less, with Virginia Tech winning 24-21 as an 11-point favorite last year. As previously, mentioned, the underdog has been a great play in this series and I think it’ll continue to be a great play tonight as Duke covers.
