Eastern Michigan Eagles Game Notes
Eastern Michigan redshirt junior QB Preston Hutchinson has been named starter on the team’s latest depth chart. Hutchinson (6’2/207) held off redshirt freshman Christopher Kaminski to succeed former starting QB Mike Glass as the Eagles’ new signal caller. He started one game in Glass’ absence last season, throwing for 357 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-27 victory over Western Michigan, so there’s reason to believe we could see a smooth transition at the position. With talented wide receivers like Quian Williams and Dylan Drummond, Hutchinson will have plenty of talent around him when he leads the EMU offense against Kent State Wednesday night.
Kent State Golden Flashes Game Notes
Kent State freshman RB Marquez Cooper was listed atop the team’s latest depth chart. Cooper (5’6/185) was listed first alongside fellow co-starter, and last year’s starting running back, Xavier Williams. The three-star freshman mighty-mouse was rated as the 169th best running back from the 2020 class and has been a solid commit for the Flashes since back in early 2019. Kent State is poised to score a lot of points behind star quarterback Dustin Crum and top wideout Isaiah McKoy, so Cooper could be in line for a big season if he can stick in the starting mix. KSU faces Eastern Michigan on the huge Wednesday MAC six-game opening night showcase.
