Broncos hope to soar past Falcons
BOISE, ID (The Spread) – The Western Michigan Broncos can make a big statement for the MAC in the 2014 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl when they take on Air Force today at 5:45PM ET.

The Broncos had a breakout season in 2014, going 8-4 overall and 6-2 in the MAC under second-year coach P.J. Fleck. The Broncos were a few mistakes away from competing for the MAC title and they went an impressive 10-2 against the spread this year. Prior to the season finale against Northern Illinois, Western had covered in nine straight games.
Air Force had another strong year, going 9-3 on the season with a 5-3 mark in the Mountain West. The Falcons were 7-5 against the spread this season, covering in four of their last five games. Air Force also hit the under in six of their last nine games.

If Western Michigan is to win on Saturday, it will need to slow down Air Force’s run game. The Falcons rank eighth in the nation in rushing, averaging 272.2 yards per game on the ground. Western Michigan is giving up just 141.8 yards per game on the ground in a conference with some strong running games. The Falcons struggle when having to play catch up, as they average just 151.3 passing yards per game. Quarterback Kale Pearson has thrown for 1,513 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, but is a bigger threat with his legs, as he has rushed for 646 yards and six scores.
