Five Big Week 9 College Football Point Spread Moves 10/26/17

Five Big Week 9 CFB Line Moves

Which point spreads are on the move for Week 9 in college football? Here are the five biggest.

Note: These five games involve Power 5 teams.

1. Florida State at Boston College, 8:00PM ET, Friday

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Eagles opened as an 8-point home favorite for Friday night’s matchup with the Seminoles. But the line has already moved a whopping four points. Boston College, which is now 4-4 on the season after beating both Louisville and Virginia in back-to-back weeks, is now only a 4-point home dog for tomorrow night. The Eagles are a perfect 5-0 against the spread in their last five games, while the Seminoles are 0-4-2 at the betting window in their last six contest.

2. Mississippi State at Texas A&M, 7:15PM ET, Saturday

After opening as a 2-point home favorite, the Aggies are now 1.5-point underdogs for their matchup with the 5-2 Bulldogs. After losing back-to-back games against Georgia and Auburn on the road, Mississippi State got back on track the past two weeks with wins and covers against BYU (35-10, 23-point favorite) and Kentucky (45-7, 14-point favorite). The Aggies, however, have covered the spread every week expect two: Week 2 against Nicholls State as a 37.5-point favorite, and last month when they pushed as a 7-point home favorite versus South Carolina.

3. Louisville at Wake Forest, 12:20PM ET, Saturday

This ACC matchup on Saturday afternoon is interesting but it indicates that sharps are on the underdog. Louisville opened as a 6-point road favorite against Wake Forest but the Demon Deacons are underdogs by only a field goal at most sports books now. Why? Wake blew a sizable lead on the road last week to Georgia Tech and Louisville upset Florida State as a touchdown-sized underdog. Plus, as of this writing, 79% of public bettors are backing the Cardinals and laying the points. Again, there seems to be some sharp action on the underdog Demon Deacons.

4. Utah at Oregon, 5:45 PM ET, Saturday

This game opened as a pick’em but now the visiting Utes are a 3-point road favorite over the Ducks despite losing last week at home to Arizona State to fall to 4-3 on the year. The road team is a perfect 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams but the underdog has cashed in five of the last seven meetings.

5. Texas at Baylor, 12:00PM ET, Saturday

The Rutgers-Michigan game has also seen significant line movement, with the Wolverines going from -21.5 up to -24. That said, the movement in the Texas-Baylor game is more interesting. Public bettors are on the Longhorns but the line is moving in the other direction. Despite being winless on the year, Baylor has gone from a 10-point home underdog to a 7.5-point dog for this Saturday afternoon Big 12 tilt. The Longhorns have failed to cover in five of their last seven games against the Bears.
