Kiffin has Owls on top
Florida Atlantic finds itself on a five-game win streak heading into this weekend’s game. The Owls have won all five by double figures, including a 34-17 win over Southern Miss last weekend. FAU is 9-3 on the season, 7-1 in CUSA, 8-4 against the spread and 6-5-1 with the under.
The Owls are putting up 34.1 points and 431.8 yards per game on offense this year to be among the best in the conference offensively. On defense, FAU is allowing 23.7 points and 383.7 yards per contest. Chris Robison has been leading the offense with 3,129 passing yards and 22 touchdowns. Malcolm Davidson is the top rusher with 583 yards and nine touchdowns, while Harrison Bryant is the top receiver with 61 catches for 965 yards and six touchdowns. Akileis Leroy is leading the defense with 94 tackles, 7.5 sacks and three interceptions.
Blazers looking for the upset
UAB won its last three games to reach the CUSA title game, including a 26-21 win at North Texas last weekend. The Blazers are 9-3 on the season, 6-2 in Conference USA, 7-5 against the spread and 7-4-1 with the under.
The Blazers come into this game with one of the best defenses in the country, allowing just 18.5 points and 271 yards per game. Kristopher Moll is leading the defense with 88 tackles, nine sacks and one interceptions. Offensively, UAB has struggled to just 25.1 points and 363.8 yards per game. Quarterback Tyler Johnston III has thrown for 1,910 yards and 15 touchdowns this year, but is questionable to play with a knee injury. Dylan Hopkins has thrown or 521 yards and three scores in his place and will go if Johnston can’t. Spencer Brown is leading the UAB ground attack with 462 yards and five touchdowns, while Austin Watkins is the leading receiver with 44 catches for 890 yards and five touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Florida Atlantic
The Owls are 5-1 against the spread in their last six against a winning team and 5-2 ATS int heir last seven following a win.
UAB
The Blazers are 20-6-1 against the spread in their last 27 conference games and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games following a win.
Prediction:
These two teams haven’t met in five years, so there’s no head-to-head trends to really consider here. The Blazers on a nice run, but they have dropped their last two road games, including a 37-2 loss to a Southern Miss team that FAU just beat 34-17 at home. The Owls have looked like the better team this year and I think it will show at home. Every win this year has been by double figures for the Owls. They just know how to separate from their opponent and I can’t see UAB being able to keep up with their scoring pace today.
