Florida State Seminoles Game Notes
Noles quarterback Jordan Travis will be a big story in this game. He began his football career at the University of Louisville and he’ll be going back there on Friday night. He’s been solid this year, with a total QBR of 84.6, which is good for 15th in the country. He has also yet to turn the ball over and is a major reason why Florida remains unbeaten.
Florida State has three running backs with at least 17 carries that are averaging 5.9 yards per carry or more. The bulk of those carries came in a week 0 win over Duquesne, but it’s still something to monitor.
The breakout star for Florida State last week against LSU was wide receiver Ontaria Wilson. He reeled in 7 passes for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. He could make a big play or two on Friday night.
Louisville Cardinals Game Notes
For Louisville, it’s all about senior quarterback Malik Cunningham. He played terribly in their week one loss to Syracuse, throwing for only 152 yards with two interceptions. He played much better against Central Florida, throwing for 201 yards and no interceptions while adding 121 rushing yards and a touchdown. He’ll likely need to make some off-schedule plays for Louisville to come out on top.
The result of this game is going to hinge on whether Louisville can stop the run. They’ve given up over 200 yards on the ground in each of their first two games. You could make the case that the Cardinals simply faced two unique players (Syracuse RB Sean Tucker and UCF QB John Rhys Plumlee) and that explains the yardage totals they’ve given up thus far. The Louisville defense does have 6 sacks on the year and if they can pressure FSU QB Jordan Travis they have a real shot at winning this game.
