Referring to the contract talks which began Friday, he said “It’s gratifying to know Georgia wants me.”
Richt’s job status was in question following a 6-7 finish in 2010. He led No. 18 Georgia to 10 wins and the Southeastern Conference championship game this season. Georgia will play No. 12 Michigan State in the Outback Bowl.
He says he has not talked with any other school. His current contract carries through the 2013 season.
