Georgia Southern Eagles Game Notes

Georgia Southern redshirt sophomore RB Gerald Green rushed five times for 33 yards and no touchdowns in Saturday’s 27-24 loss to Troy. This marks the second-straight game in which Green (5’9/195) has struggled to get anything going, after he rushed for 15 yards on five carries last week against Arkansas State. Green’s best game of the season came in Week four against Louisiana-Lafayette when he rushed 18 times for 186 yards and three touchdowns, but he has been a shell of that performance as he and the rest of Georgia Southern’s offense has struggled over the last several weeks. Green will look to rebound next week against South Alabama on Thursday night.

South Alabama Jaguars Game Notes

South Alabama senior QB Jake Bentley threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns on 19-of-26 passing with one interception in a 33-31 loss to Texas State on Saturday in four overtimes. Bentley and the Jaguars had a 24-10 late in the fourth quarter, but the Bobcats were able to score two touchdowns to tie the game, and outslugged South Alabama in the overtimes. Bentley played solidly, but is more of a game manager at this point in his career, and career seems apt considering how long he’s been playing college football. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound quarterback has lost two straight, and will try and avoid a third on Thursday against Georgia Southern.

Navy vs. Memphis Week 7 Betting Prediction

The Eagles have covered the spread in six of their last seven games against the Jaguars and are 7-1 against the number in their last eight games versus an opponent with a winning record. The Jaguars, meanwhile, are 8-19-1 against the spread in their last 28 games as a favorite, are 2-5-1 against the number in their last eight conference games and are 6-17-1 at the betting window in their last 24 home games versus an opponent with a losing road record.
