Georgia Tech Game Notes
Georgia Tech’s top two passers are out for the season with injuries. Starter Jeff Sims has a season-ending foot ailment and backup QB Zach Pyron is out for the year with a broken clavicle. The Yellow Jackets played two quarterbacks in their 21-17 win over UNC last weekend: Zach Gibson and Taisun Phommachanh. Gibson threw for 174 yards on 9.7 yards per attempt with 0 interceptions and Phommachanh ran for 44 yards and a touchdown. Georgia Tech might use both quarterbacks again in a similar fashion on Saturday.
On defense, the Yellow Jackets are led by senior linebacker Ayinde Eley. The 6’3” 233-pound Maryland native is second in the ACC with 107 total tackles on the season. Eley has also recorded 3.5 sacks, 3 passes defended, and 3 forced fumbles on the campaign. Eley and fellow linebacker Charlie Thomas will have to make several plays for Georgia Tech to cover this game on Saturday.
Georgia Game Notes
Georgia tight end Brock Bowers is one of the best at his position in the country. Bowers leads all SEC tight ends in receptions (41) and receiving yards (625). Bowers is averaging 15.2 yards per catch, which ranks second among SEC tight ends to his teammate Darnell Washington. Bowers topped 120 receiving yards against South Carolina and Florida this year and he might be due for another big day in a rivalry game against Georgia Tech this weekend.
Georgia defensive back Javon Bullard has been coming on of late. The 5’11” sophomore from Milledgeville, GA had a monster game against Tennessee, racking up 7 solo tackles and 2 sacks in the Bulldogs’ 27-13 win over the Volunteers. Georgia may dial up some blitzes for him against Georgia Tech’s inexperienced quarterbacks this weekend.

Georgia Tech vs. Georgia Betting Prediction
Georgia Tech has very little chance of winning this game. But for betting purposes, what matters is the spread. Of Georgia’s 11 wins, only 3 have come by more than 35 points. The line on this game is Georgia Tech +36. I don’t think Georgia runs up the score in this game, because there’s no reason to. The Bulldogs are already #1 in the CFP rankings and will probably be looking ahead to the SEC Championship Game against LSU next weekend. This game could end with Georgia playing their backups, and in that scenario, I’d want the underdog. I’ll take the Yellow Jackets and the points.
