Georgia Bulldogs Game Notes
Georgia redshirt junior QB Stetson Bennett completed 13-of-19 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns in a 43-6 victory over Missouri on Saturday. Bennett (5’11/190) was in his usual game manager form, only unleashing 19, high-percentage passes while averaging a robust 13.4 yards per pass attempt on the day. With Missouri utterly helpless to do anything against the vaunted Georgia defense, The Dawgs were content to methodically march down the field behind a cadre of running backs who received carries. His best play came on a 12-yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Burton where the sophomore wideout lined up in the slot and released to the right side for a wide receiver screen where the two outside wide receivers perfectly completed their blocking assignments, allowing Burton to walk into the end zone in stride. Bennett then gave way to a returning JT Daniels once the game was in hand to finish it out. UGA travels to Knoxville to take on Tennessee next Saturday.
Tennessee Vols Game Notes
Tennessee senior QB Hendon Hooker completed 15-of-20 passes for 316 yards and four touchdowns in a 45-42 win over Kentucky on Saturday. A monster game for Hooker in what was a terrific battle between the two rattles. On top of the big passing day, the senior signal-caller also was able to add 41 yards and help keep the Volunteers on schedule where Tennessee needed it. Very much so. In four-of-five games, he’s picked up at least three passing touchdowns, and the former Virginia Tech quarterback now has 21 touchdown passes against just two picks, and is playing as well as we (anyone) has seen him play at the collegiate level. He’ll have to be this good — if not better — if Hooker and Tennessee have a chance to beat Georgia.
