Hawaii off to strong start
Hawaii is off to a 3-1 start to the season after beating Central Arkansas last weekend, 35-16. The Warriors are hitting the road for their MWC opener. They are 2-2 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
The Warriors are putting up 32.8 points and 472.8 yards per game on offense this year while giving up 33.5 points and 439 yards per game on defense. Cole McDonald has thrown for 1,317 yards and 13 touchdowns to lead the offense, but he also has nine interceptions. Cedric Byrd II is the leading target with 33 catches for 411 yards and six touchdowns. Miles Reed is the leading rusher with 212 yards and two touchdowns.
Nevada with three wins
The Nevada Wolf Pack are off to a 3-1 start to the season as well following a 37-21 win at UTEP last weekend. Nevada is 2-2 against the spread while going 3-1 with the over on the year.
Nevada hasn’t been too strong on offense this year, averaging just 24 points and 363 yards per game. Defensively, the Wolf Pack are giving up 35.5 points and 389.3 yards per contest. Carson Strong is leading the offense with 683 yards and three touchdowns, but he also has four interceptions. Toa Taua is the leading rusher with 197 yards and two touchdowns while Elijah Cooks has 18 catches for 222 yards and four touchdowns. Dom Peterson is leading the defense with 17 tackles and three sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Hawaii
The Warriors are 5-1 with the over in their last six road games and in eight of their last 10 road games against a team with a winning home record.
Nevada
The Wolf Pack are 7-1 with the under in their last eight conference games and 5-2 with the under in their last seven home games.
Prediction:
The under has been the play in this series, as they have hit it in six straight encounters. The total is set pretty high for a Nevada team that has struggled offensively, especially with the Wolf Pack at home. Hawaii put up just 20 points on the road against Washington and I would expect more offensive struggles on the road this week. Nevada isn’t an offense that is going to overwhelm Hawaii either. I would expect the Wolf Pack to grind out possessions and keep the total low.
