Updated Heisman Odds

Despite a current sports lull, it’s never to soon to look ahead to football season. Which college football star will come away with the 2020 Heisman Trophy?

According to oddsmakers, Ohio State QB Justin Fields and Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence are co-favorites to win the honor this upcoming season, as each is listed with 5/1 odds. Oklahoma QB Spencer Rattler is listed with 12/1 odds.

Bet on College Football Odds

Lawrence has been the project No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft for a few years now and he enters his junior season at Clemson after having led the Tigers to a national championship in 2018 and a runner-up finish last season. As a freshman, Lawrence threw for 3,280 yards and 30 touchdowns with four interceptions. As a sophomore, Lawrence threw for 3,665 yards and 36 touchdowns with eight interceptions. He also has rushed for 740 yards and 10 touchdowns over his college career.

Fields placed third in the Heisman voting last season as a sophomore QB for Ohio State. Fields spent his freshman season at Georgia and threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns in limited action. He then transferred to Ohio State and took over the starting role. He threw for 3,273 yards and 41 touchdowns with just three interceptions while also rushing for 484 yards and 10 scores. Ohio State has produced a Heisman finalist at the QB position the last two seasons.

Rattler saw very limited action as a backup in his true freshman year at Oklahoma. He threw just 11 passes while completing seven for 81 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 23 yards on three carries. The Sooners have had a top-three Heisman finisher at QB every year since 2015, including two winners. Their system leads to a lot of offensive production and Rattler appears to be another dual-threat option for them to work with.
