Houston reportedly hiring Ohio State OC Tom Herman as next coach

Houston taking Ohio State’s OC?

HOUSTON, TX (The Spread) – Houston appears to have its next head coach and it is being reported that Ohio State offensive coordinator, Tom Herman, is the man.

ESPN is reporting that Herman has signed on to be the next coach of the Cougars, but he has agreed to stay on with the Buckeyes as they get set to take part in the college football playoffs on Jan. 1 against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.

Currently, oddsmakers from Bovada.lv have Ohio State as a big underdog in the Sugar Bowl, as the Buckeyes are getting odds of +9.5 points against Alabama. The over/under total for the game has been set at 58.5 points.

Ohio State currently averages 45.2 points and 507.6 yards per game on offense this season, and has done so with the loss of Braxton Miller prior to the start of the season. J.T. Barrett filled in nicely and threw for 2,834 yards and 34 touchdowns while rushing for 938 yards and 11 scores. Herman won the 2014 Broyles Award as the top assistant coach in college football for his work this season.
