Indiana Hoosiers Game Notes
Indiana freshman QB Donaven McCulley will start his second consecutive game this weekend when the Hoosiers travel to Michigan. Head coach Tom Allen didn’t have much of a choice other than to start McCulley (6’5″/200) last weekend against Maryland after quarterbacks Michael Penix Jr. and Jack Tuttle nurse various injuries. That appears to be the case again this weekend, as Allen has already committed to McCulley for this weekend against Michigan, saying that Penix Jr. and Tuttle will need to be evaluated as the week progresses. McCulley performed well in his first start against Maryland, as the Hoosiers nearly pulled off the road upset against the Terps in the 38-35 loss. McCulley completed 14-of-25 passes for two touchdowns and no interceptions while also rushing five times for 28 yards.
Michigan Wolverines Game Notes
Michigan sophomore QB Cade McNamara completed 28-of-44 passes for 383 yards and two touchdowns in a 37-33 loss to Michigan State on Saturday. McNamara (6’1/212) had a career game against the Spartans, averaging 8.5 yards per pass attempt and easily passing his previous high water mark for passing yardage. His best pass came on a perfectly placed 17-yard touchdown throw to Andrel Anthony who elevated over his defender for the acrobatic score. While McNamara was very productive, he made a crucial error late in the game with Michigan trailing when he floated a pass intended for tight end Erick All that was intercepted, effectively ending the Wolverines’ hopes for a comeback. Michigan takes on Indiana at the big house next Saturday.
