Spartans roll at Northwestern
Michigan State bounced back from its 10-7 loss to Arizona State two weeks ago by picking up a 31-10 win at Northwestern last weekend. The Spartans are 3-1 on the year, 1-0 in the Big Ten, 2-2 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
MSU has a defense that is among the best in the nation, allowing just 11 points and 228.3 yards per game. Offensively, MSU is putting up 29.3 points and 406.5 yards per game this year. Brian Lewerke is leading the offense with 1,025 passing yards and seven touchdowns. Elijah Collins is the leading rusher with 357 yards and two scores while Darrell Stewart Jr. is the leading receiver with 30 catches for 439 yards and a score. Joe Bachie is leading the defense with 40 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 1 interception.
Hoosiers beat up on UConn
Indiana is coming off a big 38-3 win over Connecticut last weekend, but the Hoosiers dropped a 51-10 decision at home to Ohio State two weeks ago. Indiana is 3-1 on the season, 0-1 in the Big Ten, 2-2 against the spread and 3-1 with the under.
IU has been respectable on defense for the season, allowing 19.5 points and 294.8 yards per game despite the awful showing against Ohio State. Offensively, Indiana is putting up 33.5 points and 429 yards per contest. Michael Penix Jr. is dealing with a hand injury that has forced him to miss the last two games. He has thrown for 523 yards and three touchdowns this year while Peyton Ramsey has thrown for 635 yards and five touchdowns. Peyton Hendershot is leading the receivers with 18 catches for 234 yards and three touchdowns while Stevie Scott III is the leading rusher with 215 yards and four scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Michigan State
Michigan State has hit the under in seven of their last eight conference games and in eight of their last 10 on grass.
Indiana
The Hoosiers are 5-1 with the under in their last six games on grass and 5-2 with the under in their last seven games in September.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in eight of their last 10 meetings, but I think the under is the play today. The Spartans are truly a special defense and I think they will dominate this game at home. Indiana is going to struggle to score, as it did against Ohio State. The issue then is on the MSU offense to pile up the points and it’s not easy for the Spartans to score. While they did so against Northwestern, I can’t trust the offense just yet. They have some serious issues up front and haven’t executed consistently over the season.
