Indiana vs. Wisconsin Prediction

A pair of ranked Big 10 teams meet in Madison, WI on Saturday where No. 16 Wisconsin hosts No. 12 Indiana at 3:30 p.m. ET. Is 13.5 points too much to lay with the Badgers or will Wisconsin roll against the 5-1 Hoosiers this afternoon?

Indiana Hoosiers Game Notes

Indiana HC Tom Allen announced on Monday that redshirt sophomore QB Michael Penix Jr. suffered a torn right ACL during last weekend’s win over Maryland. It was originally thought that Penix (6’3/218) suffered an ankle injury during the Hoosiers’ 27-11 victory over the Terrapins, but on Monday it was learned that the issue was worse than that. The redshirt sophomore, who tore the ACL in the same knee as a true freshman, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Redshirt sophomore QB Jack Tuttle will lead the Indiana offense moving forward.

Wisconsin Badgers Game Notes

Wisconsin senior QB Jack Coan (foot) returned to practice and is available to play Saturday against Indiana. Coan (6’3/221) foot was broken during a non-contact drill in practice back in early October, leading to redshirt freshman sensation Graham Mertz opening the season as the starter. He has returned to practice and is cleared to play if needed. Though the senior signal caller was under center for all 14 of Wisconsin’s games last year, his understudy Mertz will draw his fourth start of the year this Saturday against the upstart Hoosiers.

Indiana vs. Wisconsin Betting Prediction

Without Penix Jr., I don’t see the Hoosiers hanging today in Madison. Indiana was already having issues running the ball and now must play its backup quarterback on the road against a premier opponent. The favorite is a perfect 5-0 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams, while the Hoosiers are winless at 0-4 against the number in their last four trips to Madison. The Badgers are also 15-5 against the number in their last 20 games following a bye week, are 4-1 against the number in their last five conference games and have cashed seven of their last 10 tickets when playing at home.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK 14 BETTING PREDICTION: WISCONSIN BADGERS -13.5
