Baylor off to hot start
The Baylor Bears are off to a 3-0 start to the season following a 21-13 win at Rice last weekend. Baylor is 1-2 against the spread and 2-1 with the over through the first three games of the year.
Baylor is putting up 46.7 points and 497 yards per game on offense in 2019, while the defense is giving up just 14.7 points and 261.7 yards per game. Charlie Brewer has been leading the team with 665 yards passing and seven touchdowns. Denzel Mims has been his leading target with 18 catches for 249 yards and three scores. Baylor has three backs with over 115 rushing yards. John Lovett is leading the way with 186 yards and a score. Clay Johnston is leading the defense with 24 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
Iowa State puts up 72 points
The Iowa State football team is coming off a 72-20 win over Louisiana-Monroe at home last weekend. The Cyclones are 2-1 on the season, 2-1 against the spread and 2-1 with the over.
Iowa State is putting up a lot of yards this year, as the Cyclones are averaging 39.3 points and 531.7 yards per contest on offense. Defensively, ISU is giving up 21.3 points and 333.3 yards per contest. Brock Purdy has thrown for 989 yards and six touchdowns to lead the team this year while also rushing for 98 yards and three scores. Leading rusher Kene Nwangwu has 106 yards in 2019, but he is questionable to play today with a hamstring injury. Tarique Milton is the leading receiver with 13 catches for 304 yards and two touchdowns. The defense is being led by O’Rien Vance, who has 17 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Baylor
The Bears are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games and 10-21-1 ATS in their last 32 games on grass.
Iowa State
Iowa State is 9-3-1 against the spread in their last 13 road games and 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 conference games.
Prediction:
Iowa State has covered the spread in three of the last four against Baylor, including the last two trips to Baylor. The Cyclones are a defensive power and they should be the story of this game. I wouldn’t expect a lot of offense in this contest, as Iowa State will hold back Baylor. I think Iowa State’s offense will struggle as well, but find more points against an average Baylor defense. While the Bears technically allow less, Baylor hasn’t really played any competition. That changes today.
