Iowa Hawkeyes

The Hawkeyes are 6-3 on the season after a 42-10 victory over Wisconsin on Saturday. This was Brendan Sullivan’s first start of the season for Iowa. He completed 7 of just 10 pass attempts for 93 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 58 yards on 9 carries for a touchdown. Kaleb Johnson was the lead rusher taking 24 carries for 135 yards and 3 touchdowns. Johnson is averaging 7.5 yards per carry with 19 touchdowns on the season. He has seven 100+ rush yard games on the season. The defense had 2 interceptions and held Wisconsin to 261 yards.

UCLA Bruins

The Bruins are 3-6 on the season but enter Friday night on a two game win streak. Last week was a 27-20 win on the road against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Ethan Garbers completed 17 of 25 pass attempts for 219 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was also the leading rusher taking 6 carries for 56 yards. UCLA did not turn the ball over in the game. The defense had 2 interceptions along with 4 sacks and 7 tackles for loss. The week prior, UCLA beat Rutgers 35-32. Garbers went off for 383 yards and 4 touchdowns on 32 of 38 pass attempts.

Iowa is 5-4 ATS in their last 9 games

The OVER is 8-1 in Iowa’s last 9 games

UCLA is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games

The UNDER is 5-3 in UCLA’s last 8 games

Iowa vs. UCLA Prediction:

Take the over 44.5 in this matchup. Iowa is 8-1 to the over. They have hit over 52+ points in their last 4 games. Their away games are averaging 46 points per game. The Bruins are very good against the run allowing 3.3 yards per carry which is ranked 14th. But they are going against the 8th ranked rush offense that is averaging 5.7 yards per carry and runs the ball 63.5% of their plays. Iowa scored 42 points last week while completing just 7 passes. On the other side, UCLA scored 35 points against Rutgers and 27 points against Nebraska who allows 21 points per game on the season, which is ranked 27th. Both teams are hot on offense right now and I think this total is too low.

Iowa vs. UCLA Prediction: Over 44.5
