Tulsa vs. Houston Pick
Following an upset loss last week, will No. 13 Houston be able to bounce back and have a strong performance against Tulsa on Saturday at 7PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Houston is favored at home, as the Cougars are getting odds of -21 points against the Golden Hurricanes. The over/under total for the game is listed at 71.5 points. Houston has won three of the last four against Tulsa, but the two have surprisingly hit the under in four of their last five meetings.

Houston saw its bid at a perfect season come to an end last week in a 46-40 loss at Navy. The Cougars are now 5-1 on the year and 2-1 in the AAC. They are 3-3 with the over/under total, but have hit the over in their last three games. Even though Houston game up 46 points, part of that was due to the offense turning the ball over three times. The Cougars gave up a defensive touchdown and allowed a safety. Houston is still giving up just 17 points and 272 yards per game this season on defense while the offense is putting up 43.5 points and 502.3 yards per game. Greg Ward Jr. remains one of the best players in the country, as he has thrown for 1,684 yards and 11 touchdowns while rushing for 272 yards and six scores.
Tulsa is coming off a 43-40 OT win over SMU at home last week. The Golden Hurricanes have won three straight to get to 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in the AAC. They have also hit the over in three straight games. The Tulsa offense is putting up big numbers this year, averaging 39.4 points and 472.4 yards per game. The Golden Hurricanes have a balanced offensive attack with D’Angelo Brewer putting up 706 rushing yards while Dane Evans has thrown for 1,135 yards and nine touchdowns. Defensively, Tulsa is giving up 32 points and 387.4 yards per game.

I sense Houston is out to make a point in this game after losing last week. The Cougars feel they shouldn’t have lost to Navy and will be amped up to take out those frustrations on Tulsa. That is likely going to lead to an impressive defensive showing against a good offense. Houston should also be able to rack up the points on this Tulsa team, but the key is the defensive performance. If Houston locks up on D and keeps Tulsa in check, there is no way the over can hit. I think this will be a one-sided game, which will keep the total under.
