Is North Carolina giving up too many points to Georgia Tech? Get our pick

Georgia Tech vs. UNC Pick

Will No. 21 North Carolina cruise at home when the Tar Heels host Georgia Tech on Saturday at 12:30PM ET?

This game will be taking place from Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, NC and air on the ACC Network. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, North Carolina is favored to win this game, as the Tar Heels are getting odd of -10.5 points against Tech. The over/under total for the game has been set at 61 points. UNC has won and covered the spread in two straight over Tech.

Bet on Georgia Tech vs. North Carolina

UNC moved to 6-2 on the season with a 35-14 win over Virginia on Oct. 22. The Tar Heels are 4-1 in the ACC and 5-3 against the spread. However, they are just 1-3 ATS at home. The Heels are putting up 32.5 points and 437.6 yards per game, including 301 passing yards per contest. Mitch Trubisky has thrown for 2,378 yards and 18 touchdowns to lead the offense while Elijah Hood and T.J. Logan have combined with 946 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Receiver Ryan Switzer has caught 66 passes for 678 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, UNC is giving up 27 points and 396.8 yards per contest. They have struggled against the run, allowing 202.8 yards per contest.

Georgia Tech is coming off a 38-35 win over Duke on Oct. 22, moving to 5-3 on the season. The Yellow Jackets are now 2-3 in the ACC and 3-3-1 against the spread. Tech is averaging 28.1 points and 386.4 yards per game on offense thanks to a run game that is putting up 247.6 yards per contest. Justin Thomas has run for 479 yards and five touchdowns while throwing for 1,024 yards and six scores. Dedrick Mills is the leading back, as he has 446 rushing yards with nine touchdowns, but he is questionable for this game due to a concussion that kept him out of last week’s win. Tech still has plenty of other backs, as two others have at least 269 yards and four have at least 100 yards. Defensively, Georgia Tech is giving up 23.5 points and 376.6 yards per contest.

When you compare similar opponents, it seems like UNC should roll. The Heels beat Miami by 7, a team Tech lost to by 14. UNC also beat Pittsburgh, while the Jackets lost. Despite that, I still think Tech will cover in this game. The Jackets have a run game that is going to be hard for UNC to deal with, as they give up over 200 rushing yards per game. UNC has also struggled to cover at home, so don’t look for them to win by double figures in this one.
