Is USC quarterback Sam Darnold still favored to win the 2017 Heisman Trophy?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, yes, Darnold is the favorite to win the Heisman at 4/1. As a freshman last season, Darnold threw for 3,086 yards on 366 pass attempts. He added 31 touchdowns to just nine interceptions while leading USC to a Rose Bowl victory over Penn State.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma signal-caller Baker Mayfield has the next-best odds behind Darnold to win the Heisman at 8/1. Mayfield threw for 3,965 yards with 40 touchdowns and just eight interceptions on 358 pass attempts for the Sooners last season. He also rushed 78 times for 177 yards with six additional touchdowns.

Continuing with the odds, JT Barrett of Ohio State is 17/2 to win the Heisman Trophy in 2017. Lamar Jackson of Louisville has 9/1 odds to pull off a Heisman repeat, while Washington signal-caller Jake Browning is 12/1. Penn State’s Saquon Barkley is 14/1, Florida State’s Deondre Francois is 15/1, and LSU’s Derrius Guice, Alabama’s Jalen Hurts, and Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph are 18/1, respectively.
Alabama running back Bo Scarbrough, meanwhile, is 20/1, as are Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham and UCLA’s Josh Rosen, respectively. Quinton Flowers of South Florida is 22/1 to win the Heisman, Georgia’s Nick Chubb and Penn State’s Trace McSorley are 28/1, respectively, while Derwin James (Florida State), Kamryn Pettway (Auburn) and Luke Falk (Washington State), are all 30/1, respectively. Nick Fitzgerald of Mississippi State is 35/1.
