Kansas Jayhawks Game Notes
Kansas freshman QB Jalon Daniels completed 16-of-29 passes for 165 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in Saturday’s 52-22 loss to Iowa State. Daniels (6’0/200) also ran for 36 yards and a touchdown. Earlier this week, HC Les Miles announced to the media that the program would roll with Daniels at quarterback going forward over start over veterans Miles Kendrick and Thomas MacVittie. During that session, Miles said Daniels is “going to be very special.” We are seeing exciting flashes from Daniels each week. He’s a gifted scrambler who comes equipped with a strong right arm. His accuracy comes and goes, but when it’s on, he shows glimpses of a quarterback who could lead KU back to competitiveness in future seasons.
Oklahoma Sooners Game Notes
Oklahoma redshirt freshman QB Spencer Rattler completed 21-of-30 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 62-28 win over Texas Tech. Sometimes, Rattler looks like a talented freshman who needs a bit of seasoning. In this game, however, Rattler looked like a straight up baller. Rattler was constantly able to break the play in his favor and find clutch throws from outside the pocket, many of which he was able to hit down the field due to his wonderful arm talent. Rattler seldom held onto the ball as a runner, too. Most of the time Rattler left the pocket, it was to find an open receiver, not to find a rushing lane. Hopefully Rattler continues to show this kind of poise. This season needs more exciting QBs. Oklahoma will face Kansas next week in what should be a massive blowout.
