Kansas Jayhawks Game Notes

Kansas improved to 4-0 after defeating BYU in Lawrence, 38-31. The Jayhawks welcomed the Cougars to the Big 12 with a strong two-score victory, and they’ll now look to shock the nation here at DKR this Saturday.

Kansas is scoring 37.8 ppg, while passing for 245.3 yards per game, and rushing for 217.8 ypg. Jalon Daniels handled the matchup with BYU well, protecting the ball, while tossing three touchdown passes. The junior quarterback now comes into a big spot where he can really leave his mark in the hearts of all Jayhawk fans, if he can find a way to pull a win off here. Daniels has thrown for 705 yards, with five touchdowns to one interception thru three starts. Junior back Devin Neal has complimented him very well out of the backfield with a team-leading 394 rushing yards and five scores.

Texas Longhorns Game Notes

Texas moved to 4-0 after defeating Baylor in Waco, 38-6. The Longhorns opened Big 12 play with a thumping of their Lone Star foes, and they’ll now look to hand Kansas their first blemish this weekend. Texas is scoring 35.0 ppg, while passing for 277.0 yards per game, and rushing for 155.8 ypg.

Quinn Ewers performed well again in Waco last weekend, going 18/23 for 293 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Ewers bounced back from a slow outing against Wyoming, and he’ll now have to bring the same energy, as KU is coming in with the intention of spoiling the Longhorns’ trip to the state fair next week. Ewers has passed for 1,033 yards, with nine touchdowns to no interceptions. Sophomore back Jonathon Brooks has surpassed the 120-yard mark in consecutive games, and he leads UT in rushing yards with 379 on 65 touches.

Kansas has failed to cover the spread in each of its last six road games against AP-ranked teams. Seven of Texas’ last eight games against AP-ranked teams at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium have gone UNDER the total points line.

Kansas vs. Texas Betting Prediction

The overall rebuild at Kansas has been admirable, and they are quietly the most appealing underdog in a sneaky slate, but with them entering undefeated and in the line of fire with the Red River Showdown, they might get the best from Texas here. The Longhorns are in a prime position to have a real case for number one overall seed if they take care of business over the next two weekends, and I don’t think they’ll slip up here. Kansas’ transformation into a respectable program warrants them a look at the spread, but with the total sitting quite a bit high, I like backing the Under in a game that Texas should be able to control.

Kansas vs. Texas College Football Prediction: Under 61
