Kent State drops six straight
Kent State comes to BG tonight on a 6-game losing streak following a 24-23 OT loss to Akron back on Oct. 20. Kent is 1-7 overall, 0-4 in the MAC, 5-3 with the under and 5-3 against the spread. The Flashes are just 1-3 ATS in their last four road games.
The Golden Flashes are a defense that has struggled to stop most opponents. They are giving up 35 points and 489.9 yards per game, including nearly 300 passing yards per contest. On offense, Kent State is putting up 23 points and 394.1 yards per contest. The Flashes have a solid run game that is putting up 170 yards per game. Justin Rankin is the leading rusher with 560 yards and four scores while QB Woody Barrett has rushed for 378 yards and five scores. Barrett has also thrown for 1,748 yards and eight touchdowns, but has eight interceptions as well.
Bowling Green in a funk too
Bowling Green has dropped five straight coming into tonight’s game, including a 49-14 loss at Ohio on Oct. 20. The Falcons are 1-7 overall this year, 0-4 in the MAC, 6-2 with the over and 3-5 against the spread. BG is just 1-3 ATS at home this season.
The Falcons have struggled to stop anyone this season, giving up 47.8 points and 515.5 yards per game. Their run defense has been a major issue, as they give up 332.9 yards per game on the ground. Offensively, BG is putting up 25.6 points and 377.8 yards per game. Quarterback Jarret Doege has thrown for 2,078 yards and 20 touchdowns with eight interceptions while Scott Miller has 48 receptions for 785 yards and seven touchdowns. The Falcons could be without leading rusher, Andrew Clair, today. He is dealing with an ankle injury that has him questionable to play. Clair has 495 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Kent State
Ken State is 5-2 against the spread in its last seven games following a loss, but just 1-4 ATS in their last five road games against a team with a losing home record.
Bowling Green
Bowling Green is 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 Tuesday games, but 7-19 ATS in their last 26 home games.
Prediction:
Bowling Green has controlled this series, winning five straight while going 4-1 against the spread. This game features the team’s strength on offense facing the opposing team’s weakness on defense. BG really struggled to stop the run while Kent can run. However, Kent can’t stop the pass and BG can throw the ball around. For that reason, I am going to go with the Falcons. Kent will have to consistently run down the field to score, while BG should be able to break open a lot of big passes and score quickly. I don’t see the Flashes being able to win in a shootout. That has been their issue against the Falcons in the past.
College Football Prediction: Bowling Green -1
