Kent State Golden Flashes Game Notes
Kent State senior QB Dustin Crum completed 21-of-29 passes for 219 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in Wednesday’s 27-23 win over Eastern Michigan. Quietly one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the country last season, Crum (6’3/201) looks back and ready to roll. He did open this season with a pick, after having only threw two last season, but given the wonkiness of this season in general, Crum still showed a solid debut and led the Golden Flashes to a win. On top of his passing efforts, Crum rushed eight times for 35 yards and a score. He earned five rushing touchdowns all of last season, so he already has a good head start on beating that number this year. Kent State will Bowling Green next week.
Bowling Green Falcons Game Notes
Bowling Green redshirt junior QB Matt McDonald completed just eight-of-30 passes for 128 yards and two interceptions in Wednesday’s 38-3 loss to Toledo. McDonald hit a few throws down the field, but he was mostly throwing at dirt all night long. He failed to complete even 30% of his passes, which is a rare feat in the worst way possible. If anything, it is a miracle he only coughed up the two picks. To his defense, BGSU’s offense was so bad that McDonald led the team in rushing with only 41 yards. Neither of the team’s two backs earned more than 3.5 yards per carry. Bowling Green need to turn things around next week versus Kent State.
