Kent State Golden Flashes Game Notes
Kent State redshirt sophomore QB Collin Schlee completed 5-of-5 passes for 68 yards and one touchdown in Saturday’s 41-23 loss to NIU. Nearly all of Schlee’s (6’3/218) work came in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter, but his performance is worth noting given that he accounted for more than half of Kent State’s points. Schlee found the end zone late in the fourth quarter on a four-yard rushing touchdown, and then completed a seven-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Luke Floriea as time expired. Kent State still has its bowl game to play in before closing out the season. Schlee likely won’t be the story of that game unless Crum struggles yet again.
Wyoming Cowboys Game Notes
Wyoming sophomore QB Levi Williams completed 15-of-24 passes for 161 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions as the Cowboys fell to Hawaii 38-14. Wyoming has been reeling all season after starting the season 4-0. A loss to Air Force in Week 5 started the Cowboys off on a four game losing streak, as they won only two of their final eight games to close out the season. Williams’ (6’5/224) lone touchdown pass came in the third quarter on a 30-yard pass to wide receiver Isaiah Neyor to cut Hawaii’s lead to just 31-14, but that’s as close as Wyoming would get, as they would not find the end zone again on the day. Williams also rushed for 43 yards on the day, and has thrown for 559 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in his last three games. Wyoming is 6-6, as they now limp into what could be their final game of the season with bowl eligibility.
Kent State vs. Wyoming Bowl Prediction
The Cowboys are 5-1 against the spread in their last six bowl games, are 5-2-1 against the number in their last eight games versus an opponent with a winning record and are 5-1 against the number in their last six games played in the month of December. On the other side, the Golden Flashes are just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games as an underdog, are 2-6 against the number in their last eight non-conference games and are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five neutral site games.
