Alabama was a 6.5-point favorite at kickoff according to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI. So when Derrick Henry scored from one yard out with 1:07 remaining in the game to give the Crimson Tide an 11-point lead, Bama bettors were feeling good after sweating out most of the game.

But Clemson went 68 yards in six plays and with only 12 seconds remaining in the contest, quarterback Deshaun Watson hit Jordan Leggett for a 24-yard touchdown. The extra point put the Tigers down 45-40, which wound by being the final score. After the Crimson Tide scored 24 points in the fourth quarter alone, the final score by Clemson made it a bitter ending for bettors that laid the 6.5 points on Bama. (But obviously not for those bettors that risked taking the Tide on the money line.)

As for the total, the combined score sailed over the number of 50.5. When the two teams combined to score 28 first-half points, over bettors had to feel pretty good about their investment. Only needing a touchdown to push the total over, they were feeling great after the third quarter when there were already 45 points scored in the game.
