Liberty Flames Game Notes
ESPN’s Mel Kiper says Liberty redshirt senior QB Malik Willis will “be in the mix to be the No. 1 quarterback in this class if he keeps playing like this.” Willis is completing 71% of his passes on 9.7 YPA with a 7/0 TD/INT ratio while leading the country in Total QBR. He’s also rushed for 225 yards and four more scores. Per Kiper, Willis “looks improved from his excellent 2020 season” and his completions are not “dinking and dunking down the field,” rather Willis is “making NFL throws.” Next up for Willis is a pair of challenging road games at Syracuse and UAB. And circle Nov. 6 on your calendar — that’s the day Liberty travels to Oxford to face Ole Miss.
Syracuse Orange Game Notes
Syracuse redshirt junior QB Tommy DeVito (undisclosed) has returned to Saturday’s game against Albany. DeVito (6’2/208) ultimately missed just one offensive play after being shaken up during the first quarter. Unfortunately for he and the Orange, the redshirt junior’s first play back on the field produced a terrible result, with Albany’s Christian Lewis picking off DeVito (the pass hit off of Trebor Pena’s hands) and running it back for a touchdown.

The Flames are 8-0 against the spread in their last eight games as a favorite, are 10-1 against the number in their last 11 games coming off an ATS win and are 24-8 ATS in their last 32 road games. On the other side, the Orange are 0-6 against the number in their last six games coming off a win, are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games versus Independents and are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win.
