Louisiana Game Notes
Louisiana wide receiver Michael Jefferson has been the best player on the Ragin’ Cajuns offense this season. The 6’4” senior from Mobile, Alabama has 39 catches for 669 yards, and 6 touchdowns on the season while averaging 17.2 yards per reception. Jefferson’s two 100-yard receiving games this year both came on the road, and he may need to top the century mark again for Louisiana to have a chance to cover this game.
The Ragin’ Cajuns are led on defense by senior linebacker Andre Jones. Jones is second on the team with 5.5 sacks on the season and has recorded an interception, a pass defended, and a forced fumble on the campaign. Jones has recorded at least 5 total tackles in each of Louisiana’s last 3 games and he’ll likely have to record more than that if the Ragin’ Cajuns want to cover this game on Saturday.
Florida State Game Notes
The Florida State Seminoles are riding a three-game winning streak. They’ve been doing it with the running game. Sophomore running back Trey Benson has been the star for Florida State during the winning streak, as he’s run for more than 110 yards in each of the Seminoles’ last three contests. As a team, Florida State has run for an average of 235 yards in their past three games, a figure which ranks 13th in the nation.
Florida State’s pass rush has also been integral to their three-game winning streak. The Seminoles are 4th in the country with a sack percentage of 10.22%. Florida State has 13 players with at least 1 sack on the season, but they’re led by defensive lineman Jared Verse, who’s recorded 6.5 sacks for the Seminoles this year. Verse has recorded at least half a sack in each of Florida State’s past three games and if he gets to the quarterback multiple times on Saturday, the Seminoles have a solid chance of covering this game.
Louisiana vs. Florida State Betting Trends
Florida State is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following an outright win.
Florida State is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following an ATS win.
Florida State is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games in November.
Louisiana is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing fewer than 100 rushing yards in their previous game.
Louisiana vs. Florida State Betting Prediction
After losing three straight games in the middle of the season, Florida State has righted the ship and won three straight contests by an average of 34 points per game. That figure is the best mark in the country over that span. Florida State is 15th in the country in rushing yards per attempt (5.2) and 11th in the country in sacks per game (3.1). That combination along with a quarterback in Jordan Travis who seems to get better every week means that Florida State should win this game in blowout fashion. I’ll lay the points with the Seminoles.
