According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cardinals are 2.5-point road favorites versus the Demon Deacons, although Louisville opened as a 6-point favorite so this number dropped like a rock. As for the total, the over/under hit the board at 58.5 but has climbed to 64.5.

THE PUBLIC LIKES: Louisville. Not surprisingly, public bettors are backing Lamar Jackson and Co. As of this writing, 69% of the bets are on the Cardinals to cover the small point spread. Jackson and the Cardinals upset Florida State last weekend as a 6.5-point underdog while the Demon Deacons blew a 21-10 lead to Georgia Tech and failed to cover.
HISTORICAL TRENDS LIKE: The under, which is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams. The under is also 4-1 in the Demon Deacons’ last five conference games and 19-9-1 in the Cardinals’ last 29 games played in the month of October.
WHO WE LIKE: Wake Forest. Public bettors have a tendency to remember what they last saw and bet accordingly. What they last saw was Louisville upsetting Florida State outright as a road underdog last week and Wake Forest blowing a double-digit lead to Georgia Tech while failing to cover. That loss to the Yellow Jackets is misleading. Wake led 21-13 at half and were down a touchdown but got stoned at the Georgia Tech 24, leading to a 38-24 loss. Yes, Jackson will be difficult to stop this afternoon but the Cardinals have the edge in both defense and special teams, plus is at home. Louisville is playing its second consecutive conference road game and is 2-10 against the spread overall, plus 12-22-1 as a favorite in ACC play. Wake, meanwhile, is 11-4-1 against the number and 7-4-1 at the betting window as a home dog. The Cardinals covering a small number looks to easy. I think this is a trap for public bettors and will take the home dog.
