LSU vs. Alabama Prediction
Are three touchdowns too much to lay on Alabama tonight against LSU or will the Tide roll as a huge home favorite?
ODDSMAKERS LIKE: Alabama. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Crimson Tide is now a 21-point home favorite over the Tigers, who opened as a 21.5-point dog. As for the total, the number hit the board at 51.5 but was bet down to 47 at the majority of sportsbooks.

THE PUBLIC LIKES: Alabama. As of Saturday morning, 52% of tickets wagered on tonight’s game are on the Crimson Tide minus the points.
HISTORICAL TRENDS LIKE: The favorite is 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings between these two teams while the road squad is 15-6-1 at the betting window in the last 22 meetings. The under, meanwhile, has cashed in seven of the last eight meetings between these two rivals.
WHO WE LIKE: LSU. There’s no real case against Alabama. This game will come down to whether or not a Tigers team with just as much talent but less depth can hang defensively and generate more offense than in previous meetings between the two teams. I think the answer is “yes” to both conundrums. I don’t trust Danny Etling, but this isn’t the same LSU team that is “three yards and a cloud of dust,” trying to out-physical the most physical team in the nation. LSU will attack the edges of defenses now and will thus throw a new wrinkle at Alabama.
Granted, the Tide still have the athletes to contain the Tigers no matter what LSU throws at them offensively. It’s not as if Alabama can’t play side-to-side. Regardless, if LSU can actually reach the end zone twice, then I don’t think ‘Bama covers the huge number. In fact, 10 points might do it if LSU’s usually stout defense is up to the challenge tonight.
