LSU Tigers Game Notes
LSU freshman QB TJ Finley is likely to draw the start against Arkansas this Saturday. Finley (6’6/242) has started both games since Myles Brennan was injured with mixed results. His first appearance was a success as he completed 17-of-21 passes for 265 yards with two touchdowns and an interception while adding a rushing score in a 52-24 rout of South Carolina. However he didn’t fare so well against Auburn the following week, as he only threw for 143 yards and two interceptions in a 48-11 drubbing where he was benched in favor of fellow freshman Max Johnson. HC Ed Orgeron indicated he won’t decide on which quarterback will start until later in the week, but did say it’s likely to be Finley getting the nod against Arkansas due to Johnson missing practice last week.
Arkansas Razorbacks Game Notes
Arkansas redshirt senior QB Feleipe Franks (hand) practiced every day this week and will play against LSU on Saturday. Franks (6’6/218) departed from Arkansas’ game against Florida with a left hand injury, but was able to return to the field after taping it up. The Razorback signal caller has been exceptional this year in new OC Kendall Briles’ up-tempo offense, registering an impressive 15-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio over his last six games. HC Sam Pittman clearly indicated that the injury to Franks’ non-throwing hand will not affect his ability to play this Saturday. Arkansas will need their senior signal caller to suit up if they hope to defeat SEC rival LSU in the “Battle of the Boot” this Saturday.
LSU vs. Arkansas Betting Prediction
The Tigers are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six trips to Arkansas and failed to cover in 10 of the previous 13 series meetings between these two teams. LSU has also dropped seven of its last nine games versus a team with a losing record and is just 3-8 at the betting window in its last 11 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in its previous contest. The Razorbacks, meanwhile, have covered the spread in eight of their last nine games overall, are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games coming off a loss and are a perfect 4-0 ATS in their last four home games.
