LSU Tigers Game Notes
LSU redshirt junior QB Myles Brennan (abdomen). HC Ed Orgeron had floated the possibility of Brennan (6’4/207) being shut down for the remainder of the season, but he’s not ready to go there just yet. When asked about the redshirt junior’s status from this week, Coach O was definitive in stating “he’s definitely not playing this week.” On the year, the talented signal caller has thrown for 1,112 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. He will hope to recover from his abdominal injury in time to play in one of LSU’s final two games against Ole Miss and Florida.
Texas A&M Aggies Game Notes
Texas senior QB Kellen Mond has accepted an invite to the 2021 Reese’s Senior Bowl. QB invites have been scarce to this point, but Mond (6’3/217) is getting in on the action early. Mond, considered a toolsy project quarterback since taking over as a freshman in 2017, has slowly gotten better each season. Mond still has a ways to go before looking like a legit NFL starter, but it is easy to see why teams are intrigued with his size, mobility, arm strength, and history of continued, even if incremental, progress as a quarterback. So far in 2020, Mond holds a career-best 8.1 yards per attempt with 16 passing touchdowns to just two interceptions. Mond was a Day 3 QB before the season and the Senior Bowl probably will not be enough to change that, but maybe he can fight for a higher spot on Day 3.
