Camellia Bowl Breakdown
Appalachian State is set to play in its first bowl game in 60 years today when it meets up with Ohio in the Camellia Bowl.
According to oddsmakers at RealBets, Appalachian State is the favorite in this bowl game, as the Mountaineers are getting odds of -7.5 points against Ohio. The over/under total for the game has been set at 55.5 points. These two meet tonight at 5:30PM ET on ESPN. The game will be played from the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, AL.
Just a few years into FBS play, Appalachian State (10-2, 6-6 ATS) is ready to end its 60-year bowl drought against the Bobcats (8-4, 8-4 ATS). The Mountaineers bring in an explosive offense that averages 37.2 points and 470.7 yards per game, along with a stingy defense that is giving up just 18.3 points and 318 yards per game.
Ohio could find itself with its hands full attempting to stop App State running back Marcus Cox. The 5-10 junior has run for 1,261 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, following up a 1,415-yard and 19-TD season in 2014. Oddsmakers have listed Cox with an over/under of 111.5 rushing yards for today’s game. The Bobcats have a respectable run defense that ranks 54th in the country and gives up 157 yards per game. However, Cox is better than average and has seven games with at least 100 yards rushing. Even against a stout defense like Clemson, Cox had 103 yards on 25 carries. Look for big things from him in this bowl game.
