Maryland Terps Game Notes
Taulia Tagovailoa completed 10 of 23 passes for 77 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Saturday’s 23-10 defeat against Wisconsin. He also had 11 rushes for 19 yards. Tagovailoa logged season lows in passing yards and completions as he battled intense rains and winds for much of Saturday’s loss. These poor conditions were only amplified by the Badgers’ pass rush, which repeatedly hurried the junior signal-caller en route to five sacks. Tagovailoa came into Saturday’s contest averaging 285.9 passing yards and 1.9 touchdowns while completing 72.5 percent of his 33.7 passing attempts per game, and he’ll look to get things back on track against one of the Big Ten’s best defenses in Penn State this coming Saturday.
Penn State Nittany Lions Game Notes
Drew Allar was 9-for-12 passing for 75 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday’s 45-14 victory over Indiana. He also added three rushes for 11 yards. Allar took over under center with the Nittany Lions already up 31-7 midway through the third quarter. The talented freshman signal-caller went on to complete two passing touchdowns of one and four yards to fellow second-stringers Harrison Wallace III and Theo Johnson in the fourth quarter. Allar has now been inserted during garbage time in five of Penn State’s last eight games, and he’s unlikely to threaten sixth-year senior Sean Clifford for the team’s starting job heading into this coming Saturday’s contest versus Maryland.
