Miami Hurricanes Game Notes

Miami redshirt senior QB D’Eriq King completed 29-of-40 passes for 267 yards with two touchdowns and ran for 65 yards in a 52-10 thrashing of Florida State on Saturday. The 52 points are the most anyone has ever scored in this series between two of the most prolific programs of the last 40 years. It could have been more if Miami would have taken the foot off the pedal. King didn’t get the ball down the field much as seen in his 6.7 YPA, but he didn’t need to, and he was able to make plays with his legs and right arm in the blowout win. In these first three wins, the former Houston transfer has absolutely looked the part, and the Hurricanes look like legitimate ACC contenders. What a difference a year makes. King (5’11/202) and Miami get a bye before a suddenly interesting contest with Clemson on October 10.

Clemson Tigers Game Notes

Clemson junior WR Justyn Ross has been cleared to lift weights again, four months after undergoing neck surgery, per HC Dabo Swinney. Ross (6’4″/203) underwent surgery in early June, and in about two weeks’ time he was already doing pool workouts. The junior wide receiver has continued to make progress in his recovery, and on Monday Swinney divulged that Ross is now clear to begin lifting weights. According to the head coach a checkup in December should provide more clarity on the wide receiver’s progress and prospects for a return to the gridiron.
