Miami Hurricanes Game Notes
Miami redshirt senior QB D’Eriq King completed 21-of-30 passes for 322 yards and a touchdown while rushing 14 times for 28 yards in Saturday’s 19-14 win over Virginia. The scoreboard does not do justice to King’s performance. As the game went on, weather became an issue and Miami ended up leaning on an ineffective run game to keep them going, but King’s passing efforts throughout the game were wonderful. He did well to generate chunk gains down the field, though the Miami offense hardly ever capitalized on that by finishing drives with points. Expect King and the Hurricanes offense to look a bit better when weather is not an issue. Miami move to 5-1 and will face NC State in two weeks.
N.C. State Wolfpack Game Notes
NC State redshirt junior QB Bailey Hockman is listed as the starter ahead of Saturday’s game vs. Miami. Hockman (6’2/208) had a rough go of it in NC State’s most recent game, as he completed 14-of-24 passes for 214 yards and a touchdown with one interception in a blowout loss at North Carolina on October 24. The redshirt junior was replaced by freshman Ben Finley on a couple occasions during that game, but Finley did not play well enough to make HC Dave Doeren consider making a change for this week’s game. Devin Leary, who replaced Hockman as the starter in early October, is out for the season with a broken leg.
